Russia is still heading the medal table after day 5, but all major sports nations have closed a good day. In athletics Spain won two gold medals out of five, the Spanish triple jumper jumped almost one metre longer than the other athletes. Both Georgia and Russia earned two gold medals in Judo and in gymnastics respectively. Fans could cheer at gold medals won by Great-Britain, Italy and Spain. Győr, the host city, closed a good day, too, since Richárd Sipőcz who was carrying the Hungarian flag at the opening ceremony arrived to the top. He is the second athlete coming from Győr who won in EYOF. Previously, the kayaker, Kristóf Péter, triumphed in 2005.
The programme ended in the pool, the Italians won three gold medals, only Russia, they did not stand until four.
